Kathy Jones is an expert strategic advisor, bringing together industry and government to achieve the best outcomes for our communities at both a commercial and policy level. She is known for her work to help CEOs, boards and senior management staff manage crises and policy change contexts particularly in the property industry. She works in both the UK and Australia.

Kathy’s current work with the property industry in Australia includes:

Founding Chair of the Property Council’s Precincts Committee (previously Chair of the Education Committee)

Membership of the committee includes over 30 senior representatives from public and private sector organisations who are the owners, investors and developers of social infrastructure assets. The concept of social infrastructure and education specifically being a new asset class is developing in Australia and the work of the Property Council’s Committee is proving important in helping drive investment and reform in the sector.

Origination and Precinct Development for School Infrastructure NSW (SINSW)

SINSW was established in 2017 to oversee the increased expenditure on public schools across NSW.

Kathy worked with the CEO and other senior executives in the organisation to identify new ways of delivering schools in partnership with the private sector. This includes both innovating commercial models and working with Central Government to ensure that the policy settings can facilitate these arrangements. Kathy’s vast network of contacts from private and public sector organisations has been invaluable in getting results.

Advice to Government and major developers on precinct creation and governance

During COVID, Kathy worked with a cross agency committee to develop a draft governance framework for Sydney Harbour. The framework includes both strategic directions and a governance structure and was the result of both government and industry consultation.

Kathy has provided advice to a major Sydney entertainment entrepreneur about an Unsolicited Proposal to government for the integrated development of the entrepreneur’s own property holdings with a transport hub to create a new entertainment precinct.

Kathy has also had a long term involvement with western Sydney’s largest privately owned development which will, over the next 40 years, create a whole new precinct which will include residential, parkland, retail and education and health facilities.

Kathy has a range of Board positions which reflect her broader interests in infrastructure, health policy and democratic reform. These include directorships in the UK (ECF and Involve) and Australia (newDemocracy and Karitane). She is also often asked to assist on Advisory Boards for organisations in start up phase.
